OPEN POSITIONS

Permit Coordinator/Admin Assistant has no qualms about working outdoors at times, and in a fast-paced environment.  This is a dual role position that functions under the direction of the office manager. The position responsibilities include carrying out administrative duties such as covering the reception area, filing, developing filing systems, copying, faxing, etc. for the departments of BPCPC, and issuing permits for activities throughout the park system.  Permitted activities include large gatherings, movie, television, or commercial photography shoots, weddings, birthday parties, and other gatherings of 20 or more people, etc.

Senior Staff Accountant Primary responsibilities include update and maintenance of all BPCPC contracts and amendments. Provide management with financial reports and analyses.

Level B Carpenter/Painter responsible for providing the daily "hands-on" physical labor required to keep all parkland sites and structures under BPCPC jurisdiction in a safe and operable condition.  The Level B is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Foreman, and overall jurisdiction of the Director of Maintenance.  The Level B will also serve as a supervisor to the Level B Assistant, which will work with the Level B on a daily basis.  The Level B Carpenter/Painter worker is considered a “skilled tradesperson” and must be well organized and knowledgeable in the carpentry field.

CCSHS Programming Leader responsible for the effective, efficient, creative, safe and responsible operation of the Community Center.  Operations include providing members’ services, facilitating daily programs for members and non-members, assisting in all aspects of preparing for and presenting special events, record keeping, reservations and data management for the Community Center facility usage, customer service and communications, retail operations including selling classes and ticketed events, and maintenance and cleaning of specific areas of the facility. Operations also include performing security duties throughout the various floors, facilities and entranceways of the Community Center.

SEASONAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE!!!

Be a part of New York City’s exciting cultural life working outdoors in uniquely beautiful parks in Lower Manhattan. Battery Park City Parks Conservancy needs seasonal workers in the following areas:

HORTICULTURE
March – November
Perform all aspects of horticultural maintenance to include pruning, planting, grooming, dividing, I.P.M., and soil management. Must have minimum 3 years of work experience in the field or a horticulture degree.

MAINTENANCE
May – October
Hands-on physical labor in keeping park sites and structures clean, safe, and in operable condition. Must have experience using hand & power tools. Prior related work experience desirable. Shifts vary. Weekends required.

PARKS PROGRAMMING
May – October
Coordinate and implement public programs for all ages and audiences. Includes sports, fishing, music, and art. Significant experience working with children, families in a camp, school, or community center setting required. Must have excellent judgment, and verbal communication skills. Weekends required.

All positions require work in all weather conditions, and a valid U.S. driver’s license.
