Event Details

The Battery Park City Authority today announced Sunrise, Sunset (Revolution), a new, temporary public art installation at Pier A Plaza. Created by artists Dharmesh Patel and Autumn Ewalt, Sunrise, Sunset (Revolution) is an interactive, large-scale sculpture designed specifically for the site. It consists of 27 aluminum panels embedded with 9,000 crystal prisms activated by natural light, and is based on a previous, three-panel installation in Austin, Texas, titled Hyperprism.

“From the whimsical sculptures of The Real World in Rockefeller Park, to the meditative natural beauty of South Cove and much more, public art is in Battery Park City’s DNA,” said Acting BPCA President B.J. Jones. “We’re pleased to welcome Sunrise, Sunset (Revolution) to Pier A Plaza, and invite our neighbors from across lower Manhattan and beyond to enjoy this great new temporary installation and engage with the plaza in a new way. The timeless appeal of this exhibit makes it a perfect fit for Battery Park City.”
