Young Artists’ Workshop: Collage (Our Parks!)
Collage is one of the most accessible art forms for young children since it involves skills they are starting to master: tearing, cutting, and gluing. Children ages 2-5 and parents/caregivers help celebrate our neighboring river and parks with big group collage murals - plus a piece to take home! A brief story and a look at collage inspired by nature will get things started.
Public Art Tours & Workshop: Martin Puryear’s Pylons
This striking piece highlights the contrast between transparent and solid in relation to the river’s edge. Explore this idea with contemporary art historian Dorothea Basile and artist/educator Elise Engler by Constructing your own model using wood bits, wire dowels plus other materials recycled from a unique source.

Winter Talks: Saving the Hudson River - 1960’s to the Present
315 miles long and influenced by Atlantic Ocean tides, the lower Hudson River is one of the world’s great estuaries. Learns about the Clean Water Act of 1972 and other measures that helped reverse the contamination harmful to wildfire and people. Presented by Bill Fink
Full Court Basketball
Enjoy a game of adult full court basketball at the Community Center at Stuyvesant High School each Saturday from 1pm to 6pm. Basketballs are provided. Free for Community Center members and Gym-Only members. Day passes are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students & youth.

CATCH-AND-RELEASE FISHING 10am-2pm
Join BPCPC’s Master Anglers and drop a line for some of the 30-plus species of fish that live in New York Bay (the Hudson River’s estuary). During Go Fish!, barbless hooks minimize injuries to both fish and participants. fish are placed in saltwater tanks for observation and identification before being released back into the Hudson. Live demonstrations and displays teach fish anatomy and heighten awareness of the ecology, flourishing marine life and current state of good health of the Hudson River and its estuary. Rods, reels and bait are provided for those who don’t bring their own.
