Advanced Beginner Swimming Lessons for Ages 6-Adult

This ten-class series is held on each Sunday from September 28 through December 7, 2014, 1:45-2:30pm. This class is open to swimmers ages 6 and up. Practice basic strokes and learn important new skills such as butterfly kicking on back and front, freestyle touch-ups and the backstroke. All swimmers will need to bring a towel, a swim cap, goggles and a lock. Tennis Lessons for Kids! Intermediate Level 1

Children are invited to join this intermediate level 1 tennis class taught by Tennis Pro Kim Champion. In this class, students go through an overall review of the basic fundamentals in addition to developing and successfully executing their groundstrokes while moving on the court, their Serves, and learning the game as a whole in which students learn the Rules and Scoring along with a Singles/Doubles game. Students also are introduced, and practice, specialty shots such as Drop shot, Slice, Overhead Smash, and the Lob. Safety and rules are emphasized throughout the class.

Kim Champion describes herself as a traditionalist. She believes that in teaching students the game of tennis there are 3 keys:
1- Core Footwork
2- Repetition
3- Fun (Teachers must make the learning process fun.)

BPCPC’s Community Center at Stuyvesant High School offers this class in a gymnasium where the weather is always pleasant. The series is six weeks.

Please note: children need to bring a raquet, balls are provided.

Children are invited to join this advanced beginner tennis class taught by Tennis Pro Kim Champion. In this tennis class, students continue to develop their coordination skills and work more on refining their groundstrokes. They learn ready position, change of grips and practice on proper preparation for groundstrokes and consistency hitting. In addition, students are introduced to the Forehand and Backhand Volleys and the Serve. Safety procedures and rules are emphasized throughout the class.

Beginner Group Swimming Lessons

The Community Center at Stuyvesant High School is offering this ten-class series, held on Sundays from September 28 through December 7, 2014, from 1:00pm to 1:45pm. Get comfortable getting in the water and learn important basic skills such as breathing, kicking on front and back, elementary treading and freestyle. Swimmers will need to bring a towel, goggles and a lock. Ages 6 – Adult.

After school art activities and lawn games. For children age 5 and up.

Children’s Basketball

Outdoor programs are finished for the season. Please join us again in May 2015.

Adjustable height hoops for kids of all sizes, plus fun drills to improved your skills with dribbling, passing, shooting and rebounding. Get some exercise, learn hand-eye coordination, team-work and spatial relationships. Close-toed shoes required. Ages 5-6. Meet in Rockefeller Park each Monday from September 22 through October 27th. 3:30pm to 5:30pm. This drop-in program is free!
