Intermediate Group Swimming Lessons for Ages 6-Adult

This ten-class series is held on each Sunday from September 28 through December 7, 2014, 2:30-3:15 pm. This class is open to swimmers ages 6 and up. Learn intermediate swimming skills such as full underwater body rotations and the breast stroke. All swimmers will need to bring a towel, a swim cap, goggles and a lock.    PLEASE NOTE: There is still room in this series.  You may join the class and pay on a pro-rated basis.  If interested, please call 646-210-4292 to register today!

Advanced Beginner Swimming Lessons

This ten-class series is held on each Sunday through December 7, 2014, 1:45-2:30pm. This class is for ages for ages 6 through adult. Practice basic strokes and learn important new skills such as butterfly kicking on back and front, freestyle touch-ups and the backstroke. All swimmers will need to bring a towel, a swim cap, goggles and a lock. PLEASE NOTE: There is still room in this series.  You may join the class and pay on a pro-rated basis. Beginner Group Swimming Lessons

The Community Center at Stuyvesant High School is offering this ten-class series, held on Sundays from September 28 through December 7, 2014, from 1:00pm to 1:45pm. Get comfortable getting in the water and learn important basic skills such as breathing, kicking on front and back, elementary treading and freestyle. Swimmers will need to bring a towel, goggles and a lock. Ages 6 – Adult.

Elements of Nature Drawing

Get inspired by the beauty of the flowers, trees and other plants in Wagner Park’s gardens with this free, drop-in outdoor drawing program led by a Battery Park City Parks Conservancy artist and educator. Artists of any skill level can practice with the free materials provided, including specialized papers, soft pastels, water colors, charcoal and colored pencils. 

 

Drawing in the Park

Sketch and paint the Hudson River and parks with an artist/educator. Materials provided.

Tai Chi

Learn the ancient Chinese martial art with instructor Alex Hing. No experience necessary.

Figure al Fresco

Learn figure drawing outdoors with this free, drop-in program led by a Battery Park City Parks Conservancy  artist and educator. A live model will perform several poses as you practice your skills with the free materials provided, including soft pastels, water colors, charcoal and colored pencils.

Parent & Baby Yoga

Yoga for new parents and their babies (newborn until crawling). Enjoy yoga in a safe, supportive environment while learning postures and exercises specifically suited for new parents. Instructor Mary Barnes combines Anusara Yoga, breathwork, alignment, and strength training to improve the health and happiness of both parent and baby. The class is focused on the parent, though movement exercises and songs for babies is included in the class. Mats and other yoga props are provided.

This series is full, but a new session will be starting in November. 

Volleyball After Work

Every Wednesday, starting June 4th and lasting through September 24th, join other adults for a fun game of Volleyball! Esplanade Plaza is home to a permanent, well-loved Volleyball court. Scorekeeper and balls provided.
