An exciting musical, theatrical and dance experience, Tararam, will make a special appearance, free of admission, in Robert Wagner Park adjacent to the Museum of Jewish Heritage. Widely referred to as Israel’s “Stomp,” this show incorporates witty and comical scenes interwoven with brilliantly executed body drumming and a variety of extraordinary sounds and rhythms that celebrate the world around us from a young and fresh Israeli and Middle Eastern perspective.

Silent Summer Dance Party

Swedish Midsummer Festival

Enjoy this unique celebration of the summer solstice. Learn folk dances from Barnklubben Elsa Rix and Swedish Folkdancers of New York. Make midsummer wreaths. Enjoy a parade, children’s games, and Swedish delicacies.  Traditional music by Paul Dahlin and Fiddlers from the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. Dances led by Ross Sutter, Scandinavian folklorist.

Go Fish! featuring Shine & the Moonbeams

Join us on Saturday, May 14th for fishing and family fun. 

Join experienced anglers for catch-and-release fishing and learn about life in the Hudson River. Observe the day’s catch in aerated tanks and discover what you can do to steward the recovery of the Hudson. This event includes and are project and bird watching.

CATCH-AND-RELEASE FISHING 10am-2pm: During Go Fish!, barbless hooks minimize injuries to both fish and participants. Fish are placed in saltwater tanks for observation and identification before being released back into the Hudson. Live demonstrations and displays teach fish anatomy and heighten awareness of the ecology, flourishing marine life and current state of good health of the Hudson River and its estuary. Rods, reels and bait are provided for those who don’t bring their own. 

ART PROJECTS 11am-2pm: Learn about the public art in Wagner Park and participate in an art-making workshop. Create your own sound-making instrument with recycled materials.

BIRD WATCHING 11am: Search with an experienced birder for species that live in or migrate through BPC Parks. Binoculars available to borrow.

FAMILY PERFORMANCE 12pm: The Moonbeams create a soulful musical extravaganza that captures the sweetness, uncertainty and simplicity of youth. play children’s music with a funky twist, using R&B rhythms and high energy vocals to make listeners of all ages get up and dance. Fronted by singer Shawana Kemp, a five-time winner of Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater.
