Battery Park City Parks Conservancy (BPCPC) a private, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to the management of the parks of Battery Park City has openings in the following areas:
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Level B Warehouse
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
The position of Assistant Level B Warehouse is defined as the assisting the Level B Warehouse Lead in the coordination of Battery Park City Parks Conservancy Warehouse Management System (WMS). The primary function of BPCPC’s WMS is to ensure that all requested Products are in the right Place at the right Time, in order to maintain the daily flow of BPCPC business. The Level B Warehouse Assistant may be required to work with BPCPC’s Purchasing Coordinator, Department Heads and management team members, Line Staff and Vendors, in the absence of the Level B Warehouse Lead. The following description outlines the efforts required to operate the high-rise warehouse, low bay storage and requisition. The Level B Warehouse Assistant is under the direct supervision of the Level B Warehouse Lead.
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Level B Stone Mason
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
The Assistant Level B Stone Mason is responsible for providing the daily “hands-on” physical labor required to keep all park sites and structures under BPCPC jurisdiction in a safe and operable condition. The Assistant Level B Stone Mason is under the direct supervision Level B Stone Mason, as well as the overall jurisdiction of the Maintenance Foreperson(s) and Director of Maintenance. The Assistant Level B Stone Mason must be a “handy person” with basic masonry knowledge.
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Level B Auto Mechanic
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
The Assistant Level B Auto Mechanic is responsible for providing the daily “hands-on” physical labor required to keep all park vehicles, equipment and tools under BPCPC jurisdiction in a safe and operable condition. The Assistant Level B Auto Mechanic is under the direct supervision of the, Level B Auto Mechanic, Maintenance Foreperson(s), and overall jurisdiction of the Director of Maintenance.
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Horticulturalist
DEPARTMENT: Horticulture
Under supervision, the Assistant Horticulturist is responsible for assisting Horticulturists and Senior Horticulturists in performing all horticulture field operations at locations throughout BPC. This position is led in the field by Senior Horticulturists, Horticulturists and the Foreperson.
POSITION TITLE: Photography Database Developer
DEPARTMENT: Administration
The BPCPC has a collection of over 30,000 photographs including digital files as well as slides and transparencies. The digital files are stored on multiple media under multiple organization schemes making searches less efficient than desired. The goal is to have a system devised or database created which would allow the collection to be organized and searchable. The developer will work closely with multiple individuals to understand the current systems and the
organization needs to utilize the new system. This is a temporary project with a time frame of 300 total hours. This is a part-time, temporary, paid position. It’s not affiliated with an education institution and no course credit is provided.
POSITION TITLE: Hourly Horticulturalist
DEPARTMENT: Horticulture
Under supervision, the Hourly Horticulturist is responsible for assisting Horticulturists and Senior Horticulturists in performing all horticulture field operations at locations throughout BPC. This position reports to and is led in the field by Horticulturists, Senior Horticulturists and the Horticulture Foreperson. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm this is a seasonal position starting on April 1st through October 31st.
POSITION TITLE: Level C Maintenance Worker (Seasonal)
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
The Level C Maintenance Worker is responsible for providing the daily “hands-on” physical labor required to keep all park land sites and structures under BPCPC jurisdiction in a clean, safe, and operable condition. The Level C Maintenance Worker is under the direct supervision of the Level C Supervisor and overall jurisdiction of the Maintenance Foreman and Director of Maintenance.
POSITION TITLE: Level B Carpenter/Metal
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
The Level B Carpenter/Metal worker is responsible for providing the daily “hands-on” physical labor required to keep all park and open space sites and structures under BPCPC jurisdiction in a safe and operable condition. The Level B Carpenter/Metal worker is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Foreperson(s), and overall jurisdiction of the Director of Maintenance. The Level B Carpenter/ Metal worker will also serve as a supervisor to the Assistant Level B Carpenter/ Metal worker. The Level B Carpenter/Metal worker is considered a “skilled tradesperson” and must be well organized and knowledgeable in the carpentry and metal work fields.
